Who are you?
We are on the lookout for a Senior Business Development Manager with healthcare sales experience, ideally within the NHS, to join our expanding Commercial team covering the North of England.
Whilst the ultimate role of a BDM is to “close the deal” our approach here is a lot more consultative. NHS Trusts are our clients and the patient experience is at the heart of what we do. You will be experienced in enterprise and public sector technology sales with the ability to control longer, complex sales cycles.
OK, that's me, but who are DrDoctor?
Take a look at our careers page (https://drdoctor.teamtailor.com/) to find out a bit more about our mission, vision, and impact! Ultimately, we love the NHS and want to help it work better. We radically transform the delivery of health services to make healthcare work for everyone – patients, doctors, administrative teams and taxpayers.
Tell me more, who would I be working with?
In this role you really will interact with every part of the business, especially as we grow. Meet Louisa, who you'd work with on a daily basis.
"You’ll be a core member of an incredible and high performing commercial team of 10 including bids and marketing. We love sharing insights to help each other learn and grow, building our networks across the NHS and celebrating the wins as a team. Can’t wait to meet you!"
What would I be doing day to day?
One of the great things about a scale-up is that every day is different and there is always an opportunity to get involved in something outside of your ‘BAU’!
However, the key things you could expect would include:
- Driving DrDoctor forwards, ensuring that we continue to grow by means of targeted and effective prospecting
- Maintaining and building exceptional relationships with our existing client base as a confident, trusted advisor
- You will be measured on your sales performance and responsible for all aspects of the sales process, from lead generation to closing
- Confidently pitch and demo DrDoctor to multiple layers of seniority within the NHS in a range of environments, from Teams, to onsite to Conferences
- Lead with a consultative selling style, with a focus on understanding a prospects’ needs and adding value in conversation, whatever the scenario
- As the face of DrDoctor, you will keep the business up to date with how your pipeline is progressing and will consistently meet your monthly and annual KPI’s
- Liaising with all parts of the DrDoctor team to ensure effective scoping and support as needed
- Sharing feedback and insights to help our teams succeed on things such as regional priorities or funding opportunities

- You know how to adapt your communication style for varying types of stakeholders and personalities across the NHS
- You are a consultative seller, comfortable working with long and complex sales cycles

- You are the type of person with innate hustle and drive, always thinking of ways to bring in new business or try a new angle
- You are meeting or exceeding your current and previous sales targets
- You have working knowledge of the NHS and NHS procurement processes
Nice to haves:
- An existing network of digital decision makers within secondary care, community care or ICBs
- Strong understanding of the patient portal market, EPRs and PAS

We know from research and experience that candidates may not apply if they don’t think they meet 100% of our requirements. If you don’t tick all the boxes but feel you would be a good fit, we would still love to hear from you. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive culture!
Just to let you know too, we will need you to have the Right To Work in the UK, and as we work closely with the NHS, if we get to the stage where we make you an offer to join us, we will also need to undertake a DBS check.
We are perfect for each other, what are the next steps?
We are currently recruiting heavily and have a lot of CVs to go through. However, we don’t wait for roles to close before going through your CV. We will be in touch in a few days to let you know if we think we might be a match, and if we are not. Unfortunately, because we get so many CV’s we are not able to send a personalised reply if it’s not a match. However, if you want more details as to why, just drop us a note and we will arrange to get some feedback over to you.
If it’s a match, then we will arrange a time for a 30 minute intro call. We will tell you more about the role, the team and why you should want to join us. This will be followed by a more in depth discussion with our Head of Commercial and some others on the team who you would be working with on a day to day basis. There will be a task to complete followed by competency based questions. If successful, you’ll be invited to meet with our CEO for a final stage interview focused around our culture, values and ways of working.
We get there are a lot of great roles out there, so we will make sure to get through the rounds as quickly as possible. All we ask is you keep us up to date with your plans.
I can’t wait to get started, what are the perks?
An awesome team and mission? Oh, you want more?

We love a Summer and Christmas party and regular company/team socials and away days. In the past year, we’ve enjoyed picnics at a nearby farm, water colouring sessions, games evenings at the office and have even completed the Crystal Maze. Over the last 12 months, we have held various events for celebrations such as Holi Festival, International Women’s Day, Pride celebrations and our 12th Birthday!
